I was able to think about how each student learns in different ways. This allowed me to focus my project-based learning around the different learning styles. Rather than have everyone do the same thing, I will offer a variety of projects that use various learning styles to meet a common objective.
Module 6 has taught me an effective way for students to manage their own learning. Students will have a method to complete assignments successfully. This also helps me know what I may need to re-teach or elaborate in more detail.
Module 6 really helps a teacher think back to the developing stages of unit planning by bringing to our rememberance, "Am I meeting all the needs of my students learning styles". It also helps us think about outcomes of our unit plans and what will our students gain from this project.
The purpose of the PBL Unit should be to make all learners self-directed. It should provide areas of exploration that serve the many learning roles, but seek to pull all learners under the umbrella of "Big Questions" and unit objectives. A PBL that is developed with these ideas in mind helps to foster independent learning at the level of proximal learning for each individual. By offering a variety of learning activities to accomplish one learning objective, different students can cue in on the kind of activity that best suits their personal learning style.
Module 6 helped me to reflect back on the different learning styles of students and create a lesson which focuses on each learning style. This allows me to ensure that all my students have understood the content that was taught.
It has helped me to ensure that I have instructional components in my unit that address various learner needs. It has also helped me clearly state what students need to learn for the unit project, and to provide continuous feedback and assessment.
